Cooking Outside

Outdoor Kitchens

The outdoor kitchen has been taking the country by storm the last few years. With the increasing technology and manufacturing capabilities of companies like Blaze Grills, Blackstone, and various outdoor smokers the price of an outdoor kitchen has become something that is fairly feasible. As we have said before, in our corner of southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio we only have a few months of good weather, so why not spend as much time on your patio as possible? When outdoor kitchens are paired with a beautiful patio and some landscape lighting you can enjoy the outdoors late into the evening! If you choose to add a fire pit or fireplace then you can spend all night outside if you so choose!

What makes a good outdoor kitchen? The best outdoor kitchen is one that caters to all of your needs. The best outdoor kitchen will have exactly what you need to entertain your typical guests while not being overloaded with features that you only use once or twice per year. A full outdoor kitchen can include anything you can think of. To us at Outdoor Oasis a fully loaded outdoor kitchen would include a smoker, a Blackstone, a 40” 5 Burner Blaze Grill, an outdoor fridge, a dual trash drawer, towel and spice storage, and a couple storage drawers for your outdoor silverware, plates and bowls, and serving ware. It would also include a sink, maybe a side burner next to your grill for your vegetables, and a bar attached to the main countertop for guests to sit and talk with the chef while they’re hard at work.

While this is a “fully loaded” outdoor kitchen it is definitely the exception as opposed to the rule. We have found that most of our clients are happy with a natural gas grill, some storage cabinets, trash bins, and maybe a fridge and sink. When all of what you desire for your outdoor kitchen is designed to fit together by a professional you will receive unlimited happiness and use out of it.

In the past we have used different Techo-Bloc wall caps as countertops however we find that it is best to use a local countertop company to custom fit countertops so they are as smooth as possible for your enjoyment. The possibilities for outdoor countertops are as endless as indoor countertops. Depending on if we build a pavilion structure overhead of the kitchen you could even match your indoor countertops!

Pizza Ovens

While we don’t cook much pizza at Outdoor Oasis we do love when someone else cooks us a pizza on a custom pizza oven. If you enjoy the ambiance of cooking outside and want some of the best pizza you have ever had then a pizza oven is for you. There are a lot of options for creating your own pizza oven. There are a lot of “pre-built” options where the general structure is already built and all they need are stone on the outside to finish them. This option is great because it saves the cost of having us build the “bones” while simultaneously giving you the option to pick the finish you desire to match your patio, house, or existing outdoor space. If you regularly entertain for family, friends, or your kids friends then a pizza oven would be a huge hit as you and your guests can get as creative as you desire to cook that perfect wood fired pizza!
